Welcome to my Academic Commons page. My name is Julia and I am a Physician Assistant student at York College CUNY. I chose to pursue this career after a few years of working as an Emergency Medical Technician in the NYC 911 system. I realized that although the care I was providing was meaningful, I wanted to do more for my patients. I wanted to have the opportunity to definitively treat my patients or at the very least be more involved in their care. Up to that point, the care I provided stopped at the emergency room doors. Once I got back in my ambulance, I would very rarely have the opportunity to follow up with a patient or learn their outcome. I also wanted to challenge myself more. There was so much more medicine to learn, so many more procedures and interventions to be done, and much more care that I could provide as a Physician Assistant. So, here I am trying to achieve exactly that.
